ABOUT US

Milford became the first Connecticut chapter of Kids Count in 1992 through the efforts and foresight of Jody Culmone (Milford Childcare Initiative), Gary Johnson (United Way of Milford), and Mary Jo Kramer, Ed. D (Superintendent of Milford Public Schools). With funds raised from private and corporate donors, a special grant from the United Way, and a major annual fundraising event, Kids Count has supported the efforts of organizations providing direct services to families in Milford such as the Milford Family Resource Center and the School Readiness Program entitled Ready to Learn. Kids Count also has established a scholarship fund to provide full or partial funding for children whose families otherwise would not be able to pay for quality preschool education.
